K2 5.9: more options for application interfaces

Nintex Automation K2 5.9 introduced a custom control framework and additional SharePoint workflow import capabilities.

For a development team, a new interface capability is useful when it addresses an actual user requirement. Start with the task a person needs to complete, then decide whether standard behaviour or additional development is appropriate.

Our K2 development work follows that process-led approach. We examine the forms, information, decisions and integrations involved before defining an implementation.

This is a historical release summary. Later fixes and installer changes are outside its original-release scope; current documentation should be checked when planning work today.

Assessing K2 5.9 for an existing application

When considering K2 5.9, review the forms and controls already in use, connected systems and any custom components. Define representative user tasks before testing a change. A successful installer run is only one part of an upgrade: the people who use the application must also be able to complete their normal work. Record the expected results and agree how issues will be resolved before the production change.
